Art for Aid Introduces PILOT PROJECT
ART PALS
Art for Aid has launched a pilot program in an effort to help build communication bridges between youth in remote Canada and local students using art as the connector.
We are working in collaboration with the Carleton Place Public Library and the Perth and District Public Library to launch a pilot program called "Art Pals". The program will be run from September to May annually, but you can send us your art message anytime!
The concept is simple: local youth visit the library's Art Pals station, or download the template from our website to create your artwork and/or message. Youth in Indigenous community schools are creating on their templates as well. All the art is turned in to Art for Aid and we do the exchange.
We currently have 3 remote community schools registered for the launch of this project. While these 2 libraries are part of the pilot, anyone can play! Download the template, contact us for our mailing address and we'll include your messages in our art supply shipments!
- North Caribou Lake School - North Caribou Lake, ON
- Nibinamik Education Centre - Summer Beaver, ON
- Deer Lake First Nation School, Deer Lake, ON
- Marjorie Mills Public School, Longlac, ON
- Our Lady of Fatima Public School, Longlac, ON
We encourage Educators and students to research these communities. Learn about their history, language, schools and geography to help you connect to who they are and where they live. Information is the key to positive change and education is the door it opens.
If the program is successful, we will invite schools and libraries everywhere to adopt this program for the youth in their community. Please watch for updates, subscribe to our newsletter or follow on social media.
